Trigger Lead Abuse Is Finally Ending — A Win for Every Homebuyer

Getting 200–300 unsolicited calls after a mortgage credit pull isn’t just annoying — it’s abusive. Thankfully, that’s about to change.

The Trigger Lead Bill is headed to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

For years, credit bureaus have sold your data the moment your credit was pulled for a home loan. That meant your phone would be flooded with pressure-filled calls from unknown lenders who didn’t earn your trust — and certainly didn’t care about your financial goals.

That’s no longer acceptable.

Here’s what the new law does:

Limits credit data sharing to ONLY the following:

  • The lender who pulled your report
  • Your current mortgage servicer
  • Your previous mortgage lender
  • Your banking institution

That’s it. No more selling your information to dozens or even hundreds of mortgage marketers.

Once signed, these protections will go into effect in 180 days — giving consumers long-overdue control over their personal data.

This is a massive win for transparency, consumer privacy, and a calmer homebuying process.

If you’ve been overwhelmed by unwanted calls in the past, this is the change we’ve all been waiting for.
